I know I said I would combine weeks, but when I started writing there was just too much stuff to cram together in one page.

Khaled's Dinner: Apparently the so-called illness that threatened to put Khaled on his death bed a week ago has somehow since vanished. We found him alive and breathing last wednesday night as he eagerly took us to dinner at Akropolis, a Greek restaurant a little outside the center of town. We also met up with an old teammate of Fanta's who's from Uppsala as well, Lisa Something or Other (nice girl). As evidence of the occassion I had our lovely waiter take a picture. Voila!

Thursday it was almost Summer. We were laying out in the sun listening to music complaining about the heat. Approximately 29 hours later the temperature dropped back to normal and the rain returned with such conviction almost as if to apologize for its absence the day before.

Thanks, we missed you.

Graduation: Fridag was the last day of school for the little rugrats. Like the fabulous house guest that I am, I went along to see the shananagans.

It was nice. The kiddies sang some songs and the principle made a little speech. However, It was about this time that our so-called taste of summer ended. The clouds moved in and the uncomfortable heat started to wither away. You could see all the parents grabbing for jackets and redressing their kids. It was truly a depressing moment; one I will not dwell on so as not to remember the saddness it caused in me.

Then everyone broke out their picnic equipment, you know blankets and baskets of food. We ate, took pictures and hung out. It was jolly good old Swedish fun. Have a look. . .

the kids then marched/sang all the way to the back of the school where the stage was.

He's become quite camera shy these days. You can see him trying to squirm away.

The Moment That Summer Ran Away

at this very instant the sun dissappeared and saddness took its place.

STOCKHOLM:

Saturday was by far my favorite day of the week.

After practice Mats, Gustaf, Oscar and I drove to Stockholm to visit Karin (Anna's younger sister) and Jonas (Karin's boyfriend) and to see Grana Lund (I know I'm spelling that wrong, but don't worry Swedish people will be lined up to correct me within moments). Grana Lund is an amusement park. Karin invited the boys as a gift for Oscar's upcoming birthday. It's kinda like a mini Six Flags. Once again I took several pictures. . .

Insert Correction: It's Gröna Lund

what a lovely couple

this was my favorite ride, "extreme"

Before we left Mats talked a big game about going on all the rides, but then of course when we got to the actual rollercoaster there was a slight change of heart. Lets just say everyone chickened out except me and Jonas. So the two of us went on a few good ones, "Extreme", being my favorite. It looks innocent enough, but then it starts whipping you around, this way and that, flipping you upside down. Oh man I almost lost my lunch; a sign of a true rollercoaster indeed.

Jonas also won a huge box of candy.

This would be him enacting his winner's pose. nice huh?

After the amusement park we went back to Karin and Jonas' apartement in the middle of the city. I was somewhat fascinated with their apartment. I'm an HGTV junky so I get excited about girly stuff like cool light fixtures and stainless-steel appliances.

Their house was all very modern and just really interesting. Aside from the slanted floor, which Jonas refuses to correct, because he addimently believes such an alteration will depreciate the value of his home. Meanwhile I couldn't manage to use the computer without my chair rolling itself downhill and nearly out into the hallway. Honestly, Jonas -- either the chair or the floor has to go. That thing is a deathtrap waiting to happen.

I thought it was quite nice. It just rolled out from the top, well, like a projection screen.

The visit to Jonas and Karin's also promted somewhat of a technological fix. They had a plethora of dvds and musical cds, as well as the capabilities to burn both. I went nuts. I believe I pilaged about a good seven movies and three cd's. I've never seen Fight Club and I think that will be my first movie exploration. Can you tell how excited I am? Not to knock Anna and Mats, but they have almost no movies that someone past 10 would watch. Movies here are like gold. The new collection has truly made my week.

Sunday: Fanta and I went on a bike ride to the lake. Here is a documentation of that experience.

Fanta on the side of the road.

we parked our bikes and walked around the lake

It was really nice, windy, but nice.

This was actually quite stupid on my part. I could have easily fallen in, standing on a little stump

this was a nice quiet alcove that you could sit at

and yes that's Fanta in the corner, enjoying the view.

Fanta found this stick

She was completely enamored with it. Fanta du är constig.
